Final preparations are in progress for this year’s edition of the Sigana International Storytelling Festival. The festival is set to take place from July 15th to 17th at the Alliance Française Nairobi.
As a build up towards this event, the Zamaleo Storytellers have been performing at various schools in Kenya. In this last month, Zamaleo has held storytelling shows at Alliance Girls High School, Loreto Limuru Girls High School and various secondary schools in Kericho, Garissa and Wajir.
The 2011 festival will feature Kenya’s finest storytellers who have featured on international stages North America, Europe and various countries in Africa. It will be an opportunity for Kenyans to see a full repertoire of stories often shared abroad but not regularly performed locally.
The festival themed, Tonguetalising Beats will showcase renown Kenyan international storytellers Alumbe Namai Helen, Mshai Mwangola, John Namai, Wangari Grace and Jamlick Kogi.
